This treatment involves inseminating the gametes in the laboratory (in vitro), where each single sperm is injected directly inside the corresponding egg. This treatment is used in cases of delayed fertility, particularly due to male subfertility when the sperm count, motility or number of morphologically normal sperm are low. This is also used when the sperm is retrieved surgically from testes or epidermis.
